Oral Sex Causes Cancer
Thursday, May 10th, 2007Ok so we went for the sensationalists headline - who cares. According to BBC Health:
“A virus contracted through oral sex is the cause of some throat cancers, say US scientists.
HPV infection was found to be a much stronger risk factor than tobacco or alcohol use, the Johns Hopkins University study of 300 people found.
The New England Journal of Medicine study said the risk was almost nine times higher for people who reported oral sex with more than six partners. ”
Now before all you women start using this as an excuse to quit fellatio, “People should be reassured that oropharyngeal cancer is relatively uncommon and the overwhelming majority of people with an oral HPV infection probably will not get throat cancer.”
And if you want to start down the lines of “prevention is better than cure”, you lot get all kinds of nasty yeast infections and other weird shit ALL the time - you just have to see how many ads for Canesten there are - so that would mean you get none either.
(Guys, best if you don’t let the other half read ‘Bone or any other news outlet for a few days)
