Homicide On Ice

Sunday, February 4th, 2007

Streatham Ice Rink in south London was the venue for an 11pm prime time shooting witnessed by hundreds of people.

The victim, James Andre Smarrt-Ford, was taken to hospital but died. Six youths an 18-year-old are in police custody.

“His family are devastated. He is a 16-year-old boy who has gone to the ice rink.” said Superintendent Gary Richardson.

“It would appear that he had been shot outside the rink and ran on to the rink and fell over because of the injuries he has received.

“Did the gunman target a gang of individuals, him on his own or indeed was it that he was not the intended target?”

The rink remains under police cordon until further notice.
