Older man+ Younger lady= Happy marriage

Monday, October 26th, 2009

According to the European Journal of Operational Research, if a man wants to have a happy marriage, he should choose a woman at least five years younger than him, and who is also academically smarter.

The researchers interviewed 1,500 couples who were in a serious relationship and followed up on 1,000 of them five years later to see which had lasted.

They found that if the wife was five or more years older than her husband, they were more than three times as likely to divorce than if they were the same age.

If the ages are reversed however, the chances of a match made in heaven are
significantly higher.

Those in is marriages where one of the members were previously divorced were also more likely to end compared to those where both members were divorcees.

Dr Emmanuel Fragniere and colleagues do say that men and women choose partners “on the basis of love, physical attraction, similarity of taste, beliefs and attitudes, and shared values.”

But they say that using “objective factors” such as age, education and cultural origin “may help reduce divorce”.

Here at Neebone we feel that women feel that they are five years older than they really are i.e a 24 year old woman really feels like she is 29, so thats why dating a woman five years younger will make things balance out because, in theory, you would be at the same point in your lives regarding age and thus, hopefully, be feeling those needs i.e marriage, children at the same rate.
