Japan Minister Tries Out T1-7 In Search For Sarah Connor?

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Akira Amari, minister of economy, trade and industry, tried out Toyota Motor Corp.’s futuristic “i-unit” single-seat electric vehicle at his ministry in Tokyo on Thursday.

The vehicle, which was exhibited at Toyota’s pavilion in the 2005 Aichi Expo, can be controlled by pushing and rolling a round controller with the driver’s right hand. In addition, the unit reclines when in high speed mode.

But haven’t we seen this vehicle before? Yes, the T1-7 as seen in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

I guess not all the disaster scenarios get to be played out somewhere in the USA. Japan seems to have a little more than big dinosaurs and scary girls with f***ed up hair to contend with.

Toyota is offering a test drive of the vehicle to the public at the Mega Web showroom in Tokyo’s Koto Ward through May 20.
